FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


* School Hours:


7:40 - Enter building

8:05 - Breakfast ends

8:05 - Announcements

8:10 - Tardy (students must check in with the front office to receive a tardy slip)

8:15 - Classes begin

9:45 - Attendance is taken

3:25 - Dismissal

* What time may I drop my child off in the morning?

Students may enter the building at 7:40 a.m.  As there is no outside supervision prior to 7:40 students are not allowed to be dropped off or left unattended prior to this time.


* Why must I escort my student into the building after 8:05?

After 8:05, all staff members return inside the building to begin the day.  For the safety of our students, parents should escort their student into the building when staff members are not present.


* How do I enter the building?

For security purposes, our doors remained locked throughout the entire school day.  All visitors entering the building must ring the doorbell and hold a valid form of identification up to the camera.  We are not permitted to allow access unless valid ID is shown.


* How do I report an absence?

All absences should be reported through Skyward.  If input into Skyward, it is not necessary to send a written note.  Medical notes should continue to be sent for all medically excused absences.  Absences must be reported or medical notes submitted within 5 school days. Future absences may be input into Skyward as well.


* May I eat lunch with my student?

Yes.  If bringing lunch to your student plan to arrive a minimum of 5 minutes prior to your student’s scheduled lunch time.  Parents and guests should sit at the parent table located directly in front of the stage.


* May I make deliveries to my student during the school day?

To create the best learning environment possible, it is our goal to minimize the amount of distractions teachers and students receive throughout the day.  Class instruction will be interrupted for forgotten eyeglasses and lunches only. All other items (including forgotten homework) will be delivered to the teacher’s mailboxes.  Please make every effort to ensure your student leaves home with all items needed for the day!


* How do I make a transportation change?

ALL changes in transportation must be reported through the front office (not the teacher!) by 2:45.  You may contact the office by phone @ 832-484-6000 or send a note with your student. CHANGES IN TRANSPORTATION WILL NOT BE MADE AFTER 2:45.  All permanent changes must be submitted in writing. Changes over the phone will only cover that day.


* How do I request an early dismissal for my student?

ALL requests for early dismissals must be made by 2:45.  Although you may pick up your student after 2:45 the request must be made by 2:45.  Requests after this time will not be honored.


* How do I give permission to someone else to pick up my student early from school?

Unless written permission has been submitted in advance, ONLY a parent or guardian is permitted to request an early dismissal for a student.  Emergency contacts are not authorized to request early dismissals. If anyone other than the parent or guardian is picking up the a student from school please contact the front office or send the request in writing.
